Discrimination against sick workers has taken a turn for the worse post-pandemic, rather than showing signs of improvement. Despite hopes for progress and support, the opposite seems to be happening. But we're in this together, and together, we can make a difference. Let's brainstorm ways to support and protect sick workers, because by working together, we have the power to save countless lives.
This movement wont move itself. On the local, state, and federal level we need laws that protect the rights of disabled workers. Both the Autoimmune Protection Act and the Immunocompromised Parent Protection Act need public support to become a reality and protect us. And we have more life-saving policies on the way! For too long the autoimmune community, despite having 23 million members, has been politically silent and practically irrelevant compared to other groups that are much smaller and — and who suffer far less.
